What code for menu are you using in your Template? Try changing it to

Code: Select all

{menu}
if you're using

Code: Select all

{cms_module module='MenuManager'}
and vice versa (this is just a very wild guess).

Also, setting the 'clear cache' period to 0 disables automatic server's cache clearing. Personally, I like it best when it's set to 1.

Can somebody explain to me why is the problem caused by the time zone setting?

Have you upgraded to 1.10.2 yet?

SOLVED: STRANGE - navigation disappears - IE browser issue f

Post by nmorgan »

Calguy - not upgraded yet. I need time to backup and do all the proper steps. Not to mention troubleshoot any problems etc. with modules which takes me time as I am not a ninja. I'm on another big deadline. I am going to as soon as humanly possible. I promise! Before I hadn't done so because the site was messed up and didn't want to backup a bad site.

NOW.... guess what!!!!!

I asked the client what browser she was using and it was Internet Explorer. She saved a change in IE, site messed up, we cleared cache, site was restored. I should have asked what version she is using.

THEN.... I had her make a change in Firefox and all is well. It was an Internet Explorer problem all along. Isn't that just so strange?

Error still happened after time zone changes so it seemed to be just about IE.

It has nothing to do with time zone set in comp. just time zone setting in config.php which should be the time zone the server is in...

Not saying it is caused by time zone setting, but caching involves time-stamps, to decide when / if a refresh is needed. If time (zones) are not properly set up I imagine strange things can happen...

Ok, so it has happened again.

http://www.segretofinishes.com/
navigation module does not load at all (it's blank in page source)
In admin the pages are lot listed.

Please don't scream at me for not upgrading. I haven't had the chance to test and clearing cache fixes this so I've been putting it off as I'm a one-person firm.

I have not cleared cache this time and will keep it messed up as long as I can. I put debug to true.

Re: STRANGE PROBLEM - navigation / pages dissappear

This is a strange issue, no doubt. But I don't understand why are you still not upgrading this site. :) Until you do, I think that the most practical solution is server cache clearing.

Set "Remove cache files that are older than the specified number of days" parameter to 1 or/and force user to clear the cache manually after making changes to site or/and create an event handler to clear the cache automatically after the changes were made.

This is just a temporary solution, of course. And you know which is a permanent one. ;) :D
