And if they do, there's nothing holding them back to install the full TinyMCE module

I should think most people will install full Tiny as this software is aimed at professional web developers and they won't use MicroTiny. To me this seems like development hours are being wasted aiming a module at just an editor. Maybe in this instance the development team should not take the stance "what we think is best".

Its a fantastic idea, and I am all for it, if just a couple of features were ported over from full blown Tiny.

I think that MicroTiny looks ugly.. Maybe it should have the same look as TinyMCE, but with less icons.

I also think that the module options are a bit sparse... I think that we should have some control over the Tiny options, be able to change/add/remove block tag formats, etc.

I like the concept, and think that with minor changes, can be perfect. Maybe a permission to "Show HTML" so that administrators can fix what the content editors screwed up.

Can't you install the full TinyMCE and allow only designers to use it leaving the microTiny to the editors?

Or should you install the full TinyMCE and have different options (removed buttons) for the editor and the designer?

Quite simply the main problem with not being able to toggle the editor is this: when someone pastes content from Word (even when using the paste from Word button) lots of crappy Microsoft meta data often gets dropped into the content.

WYSIWYGs also have a nasty habit of throwing in the odd unwanted tag. Being able to clear this stuff out is a necessity. Yes, I know using the full version of TinyMCE can get round this, but I like the new cut down version and it seems a shame not to be able to use it just because there is no way to toggle it or access the HTML through a pop-up.

Yes. The choice of which of the installed wysiwyg to use is a user preference. I would be okay of making a permission mechanism to control this further (so that you could deny editors the choice of wysiwyg). Not that they'll change it much anyways... but.

This forum is not meant to discuss features. You may choose for TinyMCE or MicroTiny, that is up to you, both are thirdparty plugins/modules.

So, do not expect the dev team to change how one of these looks.

We should end this discussion and accept the choice the dev team makes, for they do the work remember.

I hope you all can accept that and let the dev team continue with their work.

Right, but never intended to start a thread on changing how the wysiwyg editor should look like.

You can toggle between wysiwyg and html if you click tab "options" mark checkbox "Disable WYSIWYG editor on this page ", click tab main again.
After you are finished, unmark the checkbox.

And YES, I like the idee to have the abitlity to restrict wich editor the "editor" can use. I for one have missed that anyway

I think you need to remember a forum is a place for 'open' discussion. The discussion is around what will be a core module. The discussion in my eyes is therefore aiming towards an improved core. Calguy has already mentioned improvements. So this is therefore a healthy discussion.

We have the Forge for future requests, this betá forum is to report bugs and dicuss issues with the new beta core, not to discuss future requests.

Calguy has explained how the dev team sees this and that if you don't agree with that dicision you can always install another WYSIWYG editor.
