Thanks nicemare and LeisureLarry for your posts. I'm also using my sites without hierarchy because I get better results in the Google SERPs. I hope one day "use_hierarchy" will be implemented again.

Thanks for the plug-in Larry that is absolutely excellent - I'm using flat hierarchy for many reasons - difficult to ascertain whether or not it's being brought back officially - would be good.

Your output filter really helped me! I was kinda bummed when official support was cancelled without even mentioning it in the changelog, especially considering the impact on for instance search engine results
I also hope it will be implemented again since the search engine rankings to the url's without hierarchy I've built up over the years are rather important for me.
