Yes I think Elijah is right as I mentioned before it is proabably a rights / owenership thing. also do not forget that Image Manager needs to be able to right the thumbnail images.

I agree with both of you. Clearly, it has to be a permissions issue, but it won't let me change them. And it keeps doing the same thing for every new photo I upload.

Perhaps slloyd, you should consider a local server on your machine for development and testing? It makes life a lot easier

I currently have all of my sites on a VPS. I have no idea what a local server is or how to set that up. I'm not as computer savy as you guys!

Can I just get rid of the "Index" text from below the big images? Then I wouldn't have to worry about the thumbnails not showing up. I'll just link directly to the first photo in the batch. Does anyone know how to remove that text? TIA!
