But of course do a full backup, folders/files and DB...

The files restore did work, but the 1.6.1 database has some problem as I don't have ANY menu on the website. I see them in the admin window, but nothing is displayed on the website. Completely empty. I don't have a backup of 1.6 database. How could I fix this? It seems that the whole problem is related to something in the database that differs from 1.6

I have also tried with MLE 1.6.2 but nothing changes on the menu side...

Effectively there was a bug in MenuManager (I lost last changed in MenuManager)
I tested:
- new installation MLE 1.6 with en/it
- checking and all working well
- upgrade to MLE 1.6.2 (with mle-full pack)
- run install/upgrade.php very smooth
- check frontend and all working well (MenuManager also)

if I force a rename of a field DB (example metadata_it to other) I have:
- error in MLE test DB in Global Settings > MLE settings
- 404 error in frontend

I have upgraded with incremental diff-patches (no upgrade.php to run) and MLE doesn't work.

[...] I have the same problems after upgrading from version 1.6 to 1.6.1.
During the update process there were no error messages.
But the menu items in the front end have vanished and in the back end I have the same trouble with the English and Spanish language - therefore I went back to the previous version.

There are the same problems with the version 1.6.2; it doesn't work either.
I made a full upgrade with "cmsms-mle-1.6.2-full.tar.gz".
Once more there were no error messages, but all the menu items vanished again.

At this point I believe that versions > 1.6 are definitely broken. It is better to wait for a fixing patch.

There were no version installed before - in other words: I tried a clean upgrade from version 1.6 to 1.6.1 and 1.6.2.

I have installed version 1.6.3. now and everything seems to work!
The menu items are back and I can change the content without any error messages.
