Strange characters on all pages (over 1000 pages) after 1.6 upgrade!

OK - I believe this is it! 

Here are the modules I think have been affected:

CGUserDirectory

SelfRegistration


And here are the characters that are, as kurtf put it, 'sprinkled' throughout the entire site.  I tried to find what they correspond to - I wasn't sure what one was... I think it's a space, but not sure.

ô = ô

ü = ü
Å“ = é

Any chance you had a chance to work up that script?  If not, that's totally fine - I appreciate the offer.  If you aren't able to, would you be able to direct me as to how to modify it?  Thanks again for your help.

I just used this on my site and it worked perfectly! THANKS FOR SAVING ME HOURS OF WORK!  
I am relatively new to php and mysql so I was stuck as how to create a script to change this for me. (i have 300+ pages)
I modified the file to only change the main content_props; this was the only area affected by the upgrade.
