Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
I'm new to CMSMS, but have used others.
My user would like to sell some items, not many, just a few.
Given the strength of CMSMS I thought it would be relatively easy to use these modules (ShopMS, Payment MS) ....
I recognize the mountain of work that's gone into these, and as a community offering it's great, representing many unpaid hours of labor, yet I find implementing these modules a bit like pulling teeth...
With the differing modules interacting, I'm still not sure what's being stored where.
For example:
If I go into FEU module, I can see the dummy CartMS 'customer' I created.
I go to edit that customer, and the user name now becomes an email address (??) and further updates are not permitted until it does become an email address.
What will a returning customer now use for a username?
And where oh where are the country names stored, or interfaced at Admin level?
Aha!!!! Those elusive countries have been found ...Well, where they are added.
So, I have prepared a list of 210 country name/abbreviation pairs (Afghanistan=AF, ...., Zimbabwe=ZW),
and attached the file here for anyone else who wants them.
Could we not have a complete 'shop', such as your demo shop (http://www.mantox.nl/shop/) that we can then happily play around with, and customize to our needs, rather than banging our heads just trying to get to that stage?

Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
fatlizard,
That is a nice idea to prepare a test shop that one can install, test and remove at the moment one will prepare his/her own.
For now, the countries are to be moved in the FEU. In the user properties select addresscity and paste your list of countries.
Do the same for the property billaddresscountry.
I will have to do tests to try and duplicate the user situation you encounter.

Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
With regards to the PaymentMadeSimple module and PayPal:
I noticed that when I was directed to PayPal after confirming my order in CartMadeSimple, PayPal is not getting details on what I am purchasing, only stating that a purchase from ShopMadeSimple had been made.
I know that this information is getting captured. Duketown, can you update CartMadeSimple to include this information so that the details of the user's purchase is sent along to the gateway recipient (PayPal, ePay, etc.)?
Thanks,
reidjazz

Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
reidjazz,
That is becaused of how the gateway is written. It is written to submit payment not to pass the full cart through.

Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
So, is it possible to update the gateway so as to include this information? It must be, as nearly all transactions I make from eBay (for example) include this information when paying via PayPal.ajprog wrote: reidjazz,

Duketown?
Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
reidjazz,
That is not something to be prepared in a split second. As a starter a feature request would be helpful with as much info as you can put next to it.

PS. Donations have a tendency to help in these cases

I have submitted a feature request via the forge for this. Unfortunately, I'll have to dig to find funds to help out...sorry.

***UPDATE***
I have a client who is willing to pay some to get the functionality mentioned above into Payment Made Simple. I PM'd you the other day but haven't heard back yet...I suspect you're busy, but my client (and I'm sure a lot of others) really need the order information to be passed on to PayPal.

Re: Help with Shop/Cart- and PaymentMadeSimple module
Reidjazz,
Yes I've been busy. Also thinking about a solution. Why, would you maybe ask? When changing Cart Made Simple, to facilitate all the details to Payment Made Simple, this would mean not only changing PayPal. It will include making new releases of the other payment gateways that I build. I don't take it that your customer(s) would want to pay for changing and for testing those.
So my current idea is to prepare a new PayPal gateway which is based upon the, lets call it, less detailed one.
I have however a question:
Cart Made Simple allows your customer to see the order details. The end customer gets a mail with all the detail. Where is the real benefit of all the detail in the PayPal payment acception screen?

If nothing else, there is benefit in having it as one last verification of what I'm ordering before I submit payment. Can you think of a current online store that doesn't show you the details of your order right before you click to pay? I personally cannot, and I shop online a lot! I'm surprised you didn't initially think of this when you designed the entire ecommerce solution.

***UPDATE***
Duketown,
My client is fine with the module without the info being passed to PayPal...sorry for any confusion. One question for you: is there a setting to have the admin emailed when an order is placed?
