Ok:

Here's the thing.  This site was handed to me by the domain owner.  They do not have communications with the guy who designed this site.  The site is well established with lots of data.

The Admin >> Modules area has a message that says the modules folder is not writable. When I checked with the Hosting provider, they say that that folder is writable.  Also their provider says from what they can see, it is writable.  So what would cause the folder to appear to CMSMS as if it wasn't writable?

Thanks

Friar

Writable by whom?
Is it writable by apache?
What are the permissions (777)?

All these post and not once have you shown what it says in the System Information page, now if it's an older ver. of cmsms then you need to upgrade...

Nullig:

The Modules are not writable by CMSMS.  That's what the Admin>> Modules section says at the bottom.
Cannot do a CHMOD, because it is an IIS Windows Server, which does not allow for that kind of change.

Mark:
I would have posted what it says in the System Information Page, but because of the errors, I cannot.  I get this error when trying to access the System Information:

string(55) "Smarty error: unable to read resource: "systeminfo.tpl""

Thanks,
Friar

Interesting..
The host it was on before was an IIS Server.

And I have not seen anything here that would say that CMSMS does not run on an IIS server.  How else would many people be able to use it?

Not that I haven't seen issues like this before, just usually there are solutions posted somewhere.

I am not able to change hosts, that's the client's choice.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks,
Friar

Also... A lot of errors like this,

Add Me - module:CGExtensions string:error_template

only I didn't realize they were errors, because they show up in the drop-down menus in the admin area.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Friar

Most times those come from the upload of folders/files not all making it there, try uploading 1.5.1 again with "overwrite all"...

I am sorry... Not sure how I would do this...  Do you mean download the current verison 1.5.1 to my local machine, unzip and then upload everything except for maybe the config.php file?

Thanks,
Friar

And do you mean to NOT run the installation of the CMSMS?  Just upload the core files to the server?

Thanks,
Friar

Sorry to go on and on like this but I have an idea.

I did get this site to work on my local machine.  Of course I installed CMSMS and then connected to the old database and used the old config.php files.

Could I try uploading the core files from my local machine install and see if that works, or would it be better to move the working site from my local machine to the new server?

Thanks,
Friar

[solved]

Ok duh!!
Yes I had tried the path setting.  Thought the paths were correct because it was partially working.  Not So!
If you are getting errors, like Add Me Module errors and CGExtensions Module not found, please be sure to set paths to absolute paths.  This is what finally fixed it, oh and I had to clear the cache and refresh the page a few times before it took.

Thanks for the help Nullig and Mark, sorry to be a bother.

Check Your Paths!

You need to put [solved] in the subject line of first post...
