Hi Pierre,

Thanks for the note - I upgraded to 1.6, which also upgraded TinyMCE module to 2.5.0.

The problem still occurs, though not quite as regularly.

Per the upgrade instructions for 1.6, I also uninstalled and then reinstalled the TinyMCE module. Tiny seems to be working great aside from this big drawback, which is driving my clients nuts.

If you have any other insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

May be your 24M PHP memory limit is too low. Monitor your http error log while you trigger the issue to know it for sure. And talk with your hosting provider about this irregularity.

Hi Pierre,

The server error log doesn't show anything happening while I trigger the issue. I repeated the issue in between forcing 500 and 404 errors. Those errors show up in the log, and nothing in between from when I am actually experiencing the issue.

I also upped php memory_limit to 48M - still the same pattern: I can insert 2-3 images using the filepicker through TinyMCE, then on the next one I get the login screen. I am then completely logged out of CMSMS (canceling back out and trying to cancel page edits results in getting the login screen in the main window as well).

Would be open to trying anything at this point, as this issue is holding up launch of a site.

have you tried with several supported admin browers ? which ones ?
Is there some proxy on the network ?
When you insert only 1 or 2 images at a time, is it OK ? Can you do so "for ever" ?
Is there anything special about PHP sessions, cookies handling, http header rewriting...?

I'm mostly using Firefox 3, but I've just used IE 7 and Opera 9 - same issue, although with IE7 I was able to insert considerably more images (8 or so).

As long as I can get the filepicker to display available images, everything works fine from there (choose an image, modify appearance, insert image, etc.). I cannot do so forever, after awhile the problem seems to get worse. It basically appears that CMSMS isn't holding my login status.

Is there anything special about PHP sessions, cookies handling, http header rewriting...?

I'm not sure - but I'd some direction in where to look and what to look for that might be "special".

I'm having this issue as well and now I don't even get the upload option after installing 1.6.  It's not even there.  I've tried the latest CMSMS TinyMCE (2.5.0beta3) and the one that came with 1.6 (2.5)

@Kurt : have you tried System Info and System Checksum ? Browsers, logS, debug...

@Jon : browser dependant irregularity ?? I'm really short of ideas.
I hope clever eyes will understand the issue better than me.

Hello to the Forum
I have the same problem with an installation: When clicking the the icon the login screen appears in the popup.

We have
CMSMS 1.6.7,
TinyMCE 2.6.2
memory limit 64M
and even set permissions of /uploads to 777

-> it does not work

Actually the issue is solved for me, it was the "statische Konfigurationsdatei" which had to be activated, now it works smoothly

"statische Konfigurationsdatei" meant nothing to me...had a dig around to see WTH you were talking about! 

But in the end, this solved my problem too...I'm running TinyMCE 2.6.5 and CMSMS 1.7

Go to: Extensions > TinyMCE WYSIWYG > Advanced > Check "Use static config file"

Everything's working like a charm now...
