SOLVED! (for me, at least)
I checked the server logs, and it showed this:
----
[Thu Jun 19 05:31:02 2008] [error] [client x.x.x.x] SoftException in Application.cpp:544: Directory "/x/x/x/modules" is writeable by group, referer:
http://www.xyz.com/x/x/editcontent.php? ... d=15&page=
----
I checked the modules directory and it was set to 777. When I made it 755, TinyMCE started working immediately.
I'd mark the thread solved, but I don't know if this will solve the original posters issues as well... hope it does!

Hi, had the same symptoms for Tiny, FCK, Xinha
Also changed to 755 and all working perfect now
Thanks!

solving
1.Delete TinyMCE module and folder
2. Change File Creation Mask (umask) to 022 in advanced setup
3. install TinyMCE via module manager

Thanks man, that seems to be my solution! Sometimes I forget to check the simple things first...
Call me a rookie, but where do you find the module directory to check and change it from 777 to 755? Thanks.

Never mind, I found the permission setting in the folder. It was already set to 755, no luck.
Any other tips?

@JP3
It helps if you give more info as to your system settings etc. like it says here...
