CMSMS 2.0 (say what now?!)
Re: CMSMS 2.0 (say what now?!)
If anyone is interested in taking a shot at developing something for 2.0, please hit me up for suggestions on what to look at. Get on IRC, as it's the best place to get some/most of the devs in one place.
I'll admit that I'm going to be pretty anal retentive about received code in the 2.0 codebase. I tried to follow a pretty strict architecture as I went and want that to try and be followed. Anything that's too over-engineered will probably be scaled down or refactored.
But, don't be discouraged. If you want to jump in, there is plenty of stuff that can be looked at and worked on independantly. In fact, if you look at the git article I posted on the blog a couple of months ago, you can jump right in without me having to give you svn access (yes, I'm very guarded about who gets commit rights).
Thanks!

I had not time yet to look/test the new version but in this weekend if I can give a look.Ted wrote: If anyone is interested in taking a shot at developing something for 2.0, please hit me up for suggestions on what to look at. I think that many have problems like me on irc for timezone (and in my case for the childrens also)

Devs used other ways besides irc? I see that cmsms-dev has a low-low traffic.

I think cmsms-dev is low traffic because of irc. You're welcome to discuss stuff there, though it won't be nearly as realtime. I know I'm reading things that come in.

I have been looking at Magento recently. Looks promising but wont be using it just yet.nivekiam wrote:You may want to see what Magento is doing. True, it's an eCommerce package and not just a CMS, but it's built from the ground up to think in terms of blocks. However, their templating system is far from end-user friendly.Content blocks is somethings that would blow other CMS's out the water.
Is there a CMS out there that uses these blocks like the new news module? You can choose file upload etc etc.

Hi,
first of all, congratulations on great project!
CMS Made Simple is one of the greatest (and simpliest
cms portals for use.
Now is question:
Before I use earlier version of CMSMS, but now my hosting provider is upgrading server to PHP 5.2, and I cannot use CMSMS any more.
In the mean time, when we wait for great CMSMS 2.0, can you give us one version of CMSMS 1.2.x which we can use on PHP 5.2?

Hello,
may be the already implemented things of 2.0 could be greyed or so on the roadmap ?
(multilang, cache, ORM...)

Re: CMSMS 2.0 (say what now?!)
Do we download the trunk from the svn if we want to test this or the 2.0 from branches?

Re: CMSMS 2.0 (say what now?!)
and with what kind of program can I download these files?

For windows, here:
http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/
For Linux, visit the link Alby posted: http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/scm/?group_id=6 and issue that command. As long as you have svn installed it should work
For Mac, I have no idea, nor do I care that much, hit google
