Simple Cart - fund

this fund doesn't seem to be moving much.... I guess people don't want these features.  I've already restricted svn access, I can remove the svn files all together, and just distribute it to the one person who wants this functionality.

I do see an option with one the sites that I support, but there is no budget at that end available yet (site just started).
Next to this I don't see a more detailed description of the project:

• what will be on the front end;
• what parameters will be available for the admin part;
• to what extend will others be able to link a payment module;
• will the module be build upon something already available (such as catoger);
• if an existing module is used, is conversion needed;
• will there be an import tool;
• how important will the module become, so how flexible must the basis be;
• ...

I take it that Patricia has provided calguy1000 with something like a requirements list or a functional design. Am I correct?
Would it help if other developer join in?

the functional requirement you see in the 'commercial help wanted forum' is what I got.

I have currently trimmed down the company directory module and called it 'Products'.    which allows you to keep track of products..  I've also developed a  'Cart' module that allows you to add products to the cart, and manage tmem.  Next will be an 'orders' module to keep track of orrdrs. 

Payment methodolgy isn't included. 
Since the frontend is entirely controlled by the admin, you can place whatever content you want, wherever you want.  the nice thing about smarty templates is that they're user controllable.  I don't (as a developer) have to think much about layout issues.
This is a 'from scratch module' (well I copied an existing one and trimmed it down).
There will be at this time, no import/export abilities
The module(s) are entirely smarty based so there should be considerable flexibility in the design.
Infact, I'm designing 3 (or 4) seperate modules to all work together.

Come on people. I must have read a hundred posts in this forum wanting cart functionality, I can't believe the pick up is so slow on this. There must be another 57 people willing to pay $10 to see this happen

I was wondering how users buy things if you can add to cart/order but no payment gateway nor paypal?

How much more will it take to have payment gateway implemented? Since a cart isn't really usable until people can make purchases or is it used in some other way. I would love to pledge if it does have payment gateway...

For a realy simple Cart I see no direct need for a integrated payment-system.
This is because for real simple shopping you(seller) mostly just need to get a email with all the details and out from that seller make the contact with buyer and make agreement of way to pay for the items.
A payment system is of course much more powerful. But a "problem" with a payment system is - "witch payment system"?
I speak out from my own experiece - just a few of my customers would use i.e. PayPal.

At least an option for paypal would be the easier payment method since seller won't need ssl and all that stuff and even if it's just sending an email with the order and then redirecting to paypal will be useful for some. Sellers can just track that the payment has been made when they get an email from PayPal. There's no need for IPN or anything else.

It would just be specifying hidden fields for their paypal account, amount and such. But with IPN, then it can send back data into the DB and admin can see that order has been paid also.

and there are two osCommerce bridging module attempts in the forge. Why don't people unite and join existing efforts ?

carasmo - I just read your post about WP cart. I didn't know there was such thing and since now I know, here is a temp solution until a cart is integrated better with cmsms.

install WP and use the following (2nd post) to call up post blurbs and then with WP cart under WP.

The problem is that WP cart seem to be a commercial product Price: $250.00 for business(building websites for clients) At this price, I would much rather contriubte to the CMSMS calguy would work on if it at least had paypal as a payment method (which at this point, no payment method is planned):

Actually this is a slightly misleading statement, from what i can see, it could only cost $15 depending on what manner of business your client was running. And available for free if you are prepared to forego any support.

Having said that, I do agree, give the money to Calguy to dev one for CMSMS.
