Segmentation Fault - Empty pages rendered

Post by sirluke »

Today my site stopped working (www.alma-automotive.com), empty pages are rendered.
I notified my hosting provider (EuroVPS) of the issue and, after investigating, they replied:

We verified the issue and suspect a code related error in the following line.
--------
/var/www/vhosts/alma-automotive.com/httpdocs/lib/adodb_lite/adodb.inc.

Do You have any idea on what could be the cause and how to fix?
Thanks.

Luca

Have you a backup? Try to reupload lib/adodb_lite folder

Which is your CMSMS version? Try to upgrade CMSMS 1.1.3.1 because there is a security problem in adodb_lite

I do have last version 1.1.3.1.

I've tried restoring a backup and I was able to view the site once, that the problem reappeared: empty pages!

It seems that the problem is a segmentation fault induced by CMSMS, this is the answer from my provider:

Accessing your index.php (CMS application) causes Segmentation fault in the server. No error pages are reported for Segmentation faults. The CMS application installed has serious problems and hence, we highly recommend to uninstall the current application and install a bug free and stable version of the same in the server.

[Mon Oct 01 18:42:23 2007] [notice] child pid 11394 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Mon Oct 01 18:43:47 2007] [notice] child pid 11681 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Mon Oct 01 18:43:48 2007] [notice] child pid 11683 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Mon Oct 01 18:52:19 2007] [notice] child pid 26046 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Mon Oct 01 19:06:59 2007] [notice] child pid 5976 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

Any clues????
The site worked for several days, before generating this error.
Thanks.

did the hosting company or you change something that introduced this?

Segmentation fault is kinda hard to debug without more information

I did not change anything.
I don't know if my ISP did.

Hello Luca,

can you log in the back end ? or is it "empty/segfault" too ?
What modules have you installed ?
What database engine are you using ?
