so.. news module, revisited

Post by iozzilina »

weeeeeeee i am remaking my webpage (iovadineva.com) to use CMSMS (iovadineva.com/beta), with a download from 7/31/05
and i am trying to use the news module as a blog (for the fun of it / ramblings)  (currently looks like hell in EI, please use firefox :)

the first problem i ran into was the summary and the "More" link are displayed when the summary field is empty. if the content filed is empty, the More link went directly to the edit news interface.

then i read the following post, http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 38.30.html ,  promtly uninstalled and deleted the news module, made the templates and uploaded again. installed.
the result was no news tab under content publishing, and the modules summary shows news is installed.
nevermind the last bit, i had not set permissions.

give me a minute to see if it works.

ok, same problem as the original ("more" link appears although no summary info, and when "more" is clicked the bulletmenu disappers form the page...)

next steps?

thanks a bunch :)

ioz.

ok. worked out the template bits, they do not go crazy on me anymore...

still my menu disppears when i go to the detailed page though.

anyone know how to fix it? It just CANNOT be controlled by the template for the news display, so what is going on?

thanks again...

Can you put an example back up on your beta site?  I'm not quite visualizing the problem in my head (maybe because it's still too early.  :) )

Thanks.

wishy,
not sure what you mean by "back".

but if you go to here:    http://www.iovadineva.com/beta/index.php?page=ramblings
and click the "more" link to read the rest of hte article, on the detail page the menu disapeares.

upon closer examination, not the entire menu disapear. what is left is the section header for the"for the fun of it" portion of the site, its children do not show.

Very very strange.  It must be a bug in bulletmenu somewhere.

i guess if you are washing the display template through the module unexpectant things can happen.

btw, have you given a thought to replacing the summary/detail duality by a tag [more] or [break page] or something that is inserted in the text of the article? simmilar could be employed for forced/user_determined pagination of any page content.

Wishy,
similar thing happens with the Kalendar module.
as long as the menu is contolled by index.php it works fine, as soon as you click on the detail of the individual module, it goes away.
