Wielrd IE6 behaviour with CSS Nav Vertical menu code.

Post by AndyHolyer »

We're trying to modify the vanilla Navigation CSS Vertical code to put the menu over our header graphic (Attached is a  a photoshop visualisation):

See how the menu (Home, Lewes, Park etc.) is up over the pale patch on the head jpg?

That works OK, unless you resize the window. In this case, under IE 6 the header image moves smoothly, but the menu entries stay figed, and hence appear to "move" against the background, until you do a mouse over, when they jump to position.

My position on this is that either we try something else, or that we work on the fact that 90% of our viewers will probably not even know that you can resize a browser window. But this is what the spec says, so that is what we need to deliver. The two small clusters  of sublinks in the TL and TR corners do the same thing and again seem to move against a fixed firmament.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any ideas as to a solution?

Thanks in advance for any help provided.
