a few simple quastions

Post by fiddle »

Hello everyone. I have just installed cmsms and had a few questions. First off, do you install all the files in the root, or a folder within the root : public_html/all the files or public_html/cms made simple/all the files.
Second, in my stylsheet I have certain attributes for etc. when I enter content, do I have to insert p tags list tags etc, or are these entered with the text automatically...

Thanks for any help you can give, I think Im making sense here.......

Also, Im not using the automatic link creator module thing...  What are the paths to the different pages within the DB so I can enter it on my navigation list.....
thanks again.

1. Depends on whether you want the CMS site in your webroot or in a subfolder.
You can also install it in a subfolder and move it to the root afterwards (a matter of moving the files and changing config.php).
2. By default CMS Made Simple uses FCKEditor as a WYSIWYG editor. It inserts
when you hit enter and when you hit shift-enter (IE only), it adds div's when you apply an alignment. You'll only get list/listitem tags when you add a list.
It's possible to disable the WYSIWYG or install another if you want.

The path to your pages is http://path/to/cmsms/index.php?page=alias where alias is the "Page Alias" (from the Options tab, when you edit the page). Why not use the automatically created navigation (the Menu Manager module)? It's one of those great features of a CMS...

Thank you very much for your help, that explains some confusion I had. If the cms is in the root, is there certain files I should delete after the install so noone has access to it..??? Also, Im using css rollovers, so I really cant use the auto nav..

thanks again for your help....

Remove the install directory and set permissions on config.php to 444, that's all.

I used to hand code until my pages became too numerous to keep going back and changing each menu to reflect an added page so I went looking for a CMS and found the WORLDS GREATEST... "CMSMS"...

You can use any thing with the CMSMS menus that you use with a hand coded menu, maybe more, CSS rollovers, Image Menus, anything you can think of can be applied to the menus generated with the Menu Manager

For examples of diff. menus see http://multiintech.com/ for which I've made about 40 diff. menu templates, guess that's because I've got 40 diff. templates...  ;)

Look at the Image Map menus for image rollovers or see http://blueoakom.com/ for color variations on a menu items, products...
