Chelsea High's Web site is now live at http://chs.chelseaschools.com
It takes major advantage of cmsmadesimple and other open source projects like ubuntu.
I have some constraints concerning links to other Web sites, so the link to cmsmadesimple.org cannot not appear on the template right now. It DOES appear in the admin area and cmsmadesimple is mentioned on the page about the Web site, though alas, I can't have a link there either as yet. Cmsmadesimple and Ted are mentioned in the meta tags, as there's no rule about that! I hope to get permission for a "powered by" link of some sort, and as soon as I do, trust me, it will be up there. If anyone has any other ideas about how to give more credit to cmsmadesimple without adding a link, let me know and I'll definitely look into it. For what it's worth, I suggest that people use cmsmadesimple on a constant and continual basis.
This link paranoia in the educational field started because there was a link to phpbb in the past, and on the phpbb site there was an ad for online gambling. Apparently a parent went nuts and the "we're not responsible for other sites" disclaimer doesn't fly as well for public schools.
Any way... check out the site if you can. If it sucks, let me know why, and I'll fix it.
High School Web site using CMSMS
Re: High School Web site using CMSMS
nice!
only one thing I would change. I would make the w3c valid tags prettier (there are prettier versions Ive seen them. not sure if they are approved tho) but I think those old images just look too 1980
good luck with getting the powered by logo included

Re: High School Web site using CMSMS
Thanks a lot for the feedback.
I found some snazzier w3c images and also added the cmsms icon supplied here.
We are an inner-city school, so the next version of the site will have Katon's multi-lang hack as well.
Thanks again for a great content management system!

do you think the master email list is a good idea. In a nonspam world, perhaps. You shouldn't invite trouble.
Re: High School Web site using CMSMS
I put the emails in hex style with the smarty tag. Are there any other ideas out there on how to make it more difficult for spammers, or is the hex effective?
It's really important that parents have easy email access to all the faculty.
