Site has just disappeared...

Post by 3dcandy »

After experiencing many, many problems with my site using cmsms the latest problem is my site has now disappeared...
After speed issues have killed it, and after readibg Ted post that clearing the cache may help, I did just that and you are now
greeted with a blank page. A quick check of the source code from the page reveals an error message...

Now that's a good 3 weeks of work that has disappeared, plus countless other problems I keep having.
Without sounding ungrateful, and without trying to sound dismissive, I am rapidly having to make a choice whether
to stick with cmsms or go with an alternative like Joomla. I cannot afford to waste time on these issues, and as I have a few websites
to complete, I cannot stick with a system that currently appears to be sensitive to small changes which render a site unoperative.

Any ideas please, because I'm frankly getting fed up of the time wasted trying to get this thing right!

I myself have 20 or so cmsms installations on different servers (most on one server tho) and never had any problems except when debuggin beta versions or developing svn versions.

CMSMS is kinda strict with server settings tho, memory limit can kill pages (then again that goes for all php systems if they use memory) and safe mode can make your life harder than it should be (then again safe mode affects all php systems) and so on.

One thing is for sure, cmsms wont destroy your work from the db and it wont delete its own files.

Take a database dump, install new clean install somewhere else (on a different server or for just a test in local environment like xampp) and restore the db to this test environment, youll see that your data will be intact. (assuming that the server works of course)

then check your live server config, php version, safe mode, memory limits and so on.

Hope this helps..

I know the data is there, I can edit it!
Problem is, this extra delay, after a nightmare installation is just becoming a bind, and makes life very very difficult.
Also, the site is sooooo sloooooow after the modules I wanted to use were installed that I was going to have to
rethink the whole site...
