Not able to install FeedbackForm or Formbuilder: solved???

Post by Gregor »

Hi Guys,

Upgraded to version 1.0.2 Mauii succesfully, however I'm not able to install any module via XML. I tried to install the latest version of FeedbackForm and Formbuilder. I set the modules directory to 777 before installing. The module manager tells me that he can not download and install these modules. If I download the specific xml-file to my laptop and than use the upload option in the Modules screen, I get the following error:
Could not create a file (permissions problem?) /home/httpd/vhosts/uisge-beatha.eu/httpdocs/modules/FormBuilder/templates/RenderFormTableTitleTop.tpl (Troubleshooting)
I know that all developers are doing a great job, and really appreciate that, but this is really driving me crazy, I was able to install modules, however since I have to use xml, the only thing I get are errors. Can someone please help?

Thanks for your reply.

Check the following:

a) Via ftp, or terminal, etc.  check the permissions of the /modules directory, and make sure they're still 777
(some providers have been known to change permissions on you), or if they're owned by the httpd server process they should be 755 at tle least.

B) check the file creation mask in the CMS admin.  it should be 022 (minimum).

Then see what happens.

Thanks for your reply Calguy, I checked your suggestions.
1) I set the moduels-directory to 777 before trying to install the xml-files. BTW, I assume you only mean the modules directory and not the httpdocs-directory.
2) the file creation mask was set to 022

Sorry to tell, nothing happend.

I found a workaround to download the fiels that are on svn:
- looked for a svn client http://www.lacocina.nl/artikelen/tortoisesvn.html
- followed the installation instructions
- added the svn-directory of FeedbackForm
- did an export to my local pc
- according to the module name I created a directory on the webserver
- uploaded all files that belong to the module
- entered extensions -> modules, and there was FeedbackForm :)
- did an install and set the permissions right and it worked.

This is may not the most efficient way, and I also realise that I don't get the latest stable version, but for now it works untill I'm able to use xml for downloads (maybe create an xml download for dummy's...)

Cheers.

The XML stuff was supposed to be for dummies :)

I've tried it on three different (hosted) sites now, and haven't had difficulty.  This is strange.  We definately need more information.

Hi Calguy,

Perhaps a meta dummy is required....

If you tell me what information you need, I'll try to give it you ;)

Hello there

Sorry to report that we're having the same problem here installing any XML based modules. We;ve tried a few today including Feedback form and form builder but always get the same error: Could not create a file (permissions problem?) /var/www/vhosts/webber-design.com/httpdocs/pab/modules/FeedbackForm/templates/AdminMain.tpl - that was on install of the latest eedback form module (0.9.14). If I look at the files via ftp it gets as far as creating a Feedback Form folder (empty) but that's it. We're running the latest version of cmsms on a linux server.

Can anyone provide a zip file like in the old days please - my dummy is off on holiday so the xml one is no good for me.
