Hello - So I'm thinking about sponsoring a multi image picker field definition for LISE or Gallery. Gallery has the ability to choose many image files during an upload and save into a Sub Gallery folder. However, many images cannot be "picked" or selected from an existing /uploads/image/subfolder/ and saved into a Sub Gallery. Ideally, there would be a field definition that utilizes the file picker but allows multi selection of images to be chosen instead of a single image selection only.
This would be a great feature for LISE because often times, an editor will upload many files using File Manager for later user. An LISE editor could then pick all of the files wanted and assign to one field as a comma separated string, list, or an indexed array of image/path/image_name.png / jpg / gif / webp files.
Then, the template would simply iterate the collection or split it by comma if a comma separated list of images.
This would be a great feature for Gallery because those images already uploaded to the server, could be assigned to the Sub Gallery along with any new uploaded images. It would be one collection of image/path/image_name.jpg files.
Thoughts? Any takers? The requirement is a Multi Image Picker utility that can choose multiple images from the /uploads/ directory and can be used as a Field Definition for Gallery and/or LISE. It would probably be useful for ECB2 too.

Re: Multi File Select Field Definition -> multi image picker for LISE or Gallery
Hi Johnny,
I could do something like that with ECB2, Gallery field. Optionally have it just use images from a specific directory, that you can select multiple images from. Woul dthat meet your requirements?
For now that would only work in a Content Page, but JoMorg is working on a feature that will allow all modules to easily share field definitions, including LISE, ECB2, Gallery, etc.

Re: Multi File Select Field Definition -> multi image picker for LISE or Gallery
Hey Chris - Thanks for the reply! I considered using a UDT field that allows an admin to choose a directory from the /uploads/ path as my backup plan. Ideally a multi file picker for LISE or Gallery is what I really want because I'd like to iterate through a list of images picked from a folder and without uploading to the server.
I'm updating one of my old CMSMS sites and moving away from Calguy's Company Directory and migrating everything LISE. So, there are many existing directories filled with image files organized by user. It would be nice to be able to choose the images wanted for each LISE user from existing folders on the server and saved in the DB as a collection of image paths.
So, anyway, right now, I wouldn't have a need for it in ECB2 / content pages. I can see how a field like that would be useful for ECB2 and other modules. An admin could simply pick multiple images and quickly create galleries or slideshows anywhere. I imagine the multi file picker could leverage the Core File Picker and use some JavaScript to allow multiple file selection.
