When a new registrant clicks on the link in the email the system sends to validate him or her with a code, the form is not displayed and "ERROR! Insufficient number (or incorrect) parameters supplied to module" is instead. Verified all settings in this module and FEU and nothing seems to help.
Anyone have a clue?

Just a guess:
If you're using url rewriting (e.g. pretty urls) with a .htaccess try if it works when disabling that feature (both renaming .htaccess and commenting out url_rewriting setting in config.php

Thanks for the suggestion but that's not it as those features are not present. I'd add that the Admin log states the problem as "SelfRegistration no group parameter specified for the signup action"
Group is defined in FEU and is named in the tag on the page as specified in the module help.
