Forces Recruitment - Recruitment Agency for Ex Forces People

Post by Prestoav »

http://www.forcesrecruitment.co.uk

Our latest site launch using CMSMS, this site was technically challenging and involved a whole new look for the company (except the logo). The vacancy search section was particularly interesting as was the "apply for a job" form which has to forward applications on to individual offices, dependent on the job being applied for.

Again, we used HTML5 and numerous modules from CMSMS developers as follows:

Core: 1.10.3

Installed Modules:

FormBuilder: 0.7.3
CGExtensions: 1.30
CGFeedMaker: 1.0.16
SiteMapMadeSimple: 1.2.6
CMSForms: 0.2.4
Twitter: 1.10
AdvancedContent: 0.9.3
JQueryTools: 1.1
CGSimpleSmarty: 1.5.2
XMLMadeSimple: 0.1.1
Uploads: 1.14.2
FormBrowser: 0.4.1
CGGoogleMaps: 2.4.2

As always, any and all feedback is most welcome!

Looks really cool!

I would say there are a few small things that might improve the site:
  1. Fix the 404 error on the clientBlockQuoute.png
  2. When on an offices page maybe having the office locator already selected with the office you're currently on would be cool
  3. Minify/combine CSS and JavaScript, also I'd put the JavaScript at the bottom of the page
  4. Add a viewport tag to the site for mobile devices so the zoom level shows the full site initially allowing the user to see all the content till they zoom in to a specific section
Only suggestions but I definitely like the design :)

Nice site. I would be interested to know more about the jobs side of it such as which module if any you use to add jobs and the job search function.

Form validation could look better I have always thought the default Formbuilder style look terrible.

I agree, I'd like to know if you used a module for the actual job listings, site looks good though, like it.

Hi, improving the submission error reporting is certainly something we'd like to improve for this site but moving it on from the standard formatting does seem to be a sizeable job. One day maybe!

The job posting actually happens on a different system and is presented to us as an XML feed, the format of which we specified at the beginning of the project. The various job listings are read and generated (with suitable filtering) via the XMLMadeSimple module. Some extra work was needed to pass the job reference number between pages and some session variables too.

The other major issue was to create a UDT to mail out job applications to the respective office email address. Form builder doesn't offer this easily but the UDT got round that by mailing to a HP variable set conditionally.
