New Site for Hi-Fi Manufacturer Musical Fidelity

Post by Prestoav »

Just launched this as our latest project, a new site for a well know high-end Hi-Fi company, Musical Fidelity.

http://www.musicalfidelity.com

The project was pretty involved having a big product portfolio using Cataloger and a local (UK) and overseas dealer / distributor search engine using Company Directory.

As usual these days a Twitter feed was needed as was the News module.

The content was a huge job in itself with a pro journalist friend of mine needed to generate over 13,000 words of content for the product section alone. I had to edit over 130 images too!

Speaking of images one problem I had was files in Cataloger. The graphic design called for sliding transparent images (.png in this case) over a shadow background for each product but .png files are not compatible with the Cataloger image section. No problem, I just used the files feature. However, the files section of the Cataloger does't keep files in a particular index slot but reindexes them into alphabetical order. So, all files had to have a number as the first character of the file name to force the image files to stay in the right order and, therefore, appear in the right place on the page. Not ideal but it works just fine.

I still have an issue with the dealer locator as the client needs a list of the categories of product stocked when listing dealers in Summary view (no detail view needed). I'm still looking for a way round that!

Anyway, I hope you like it. I'm always open to suggestions and improvements so feel free to let us know what you think!

Hi Prestoav,

Nice site :)
mini-suggestion:
Maybe you could display a message when no "Musical Fidelity Distributor" is found?

Greetings,
Manuel

Very nice site! I especially like the image slide on the product pages.

Only problem I found was that a search attempt gave me "500 - Internal server error".

Thanks for sharing

A big hand-clap for the project. I really like how you use real web fonts as a part of your design scheme, very cool.

What cmsms modules are you using for your dealer page (the forms). Or are they both third-party application forms?

Good job

Thanks to both for your positive comments!

Blackhawk - the dealer page uses searches from the Company Directory module which stores all the companies.
