PunBB Module Intall Question

Post by andrewtf »

Maybe this is a stupid question, but is PunBB itself supposed to be installed by the CMSMS module installer? That's the impression I get from reading the associated documents and related posts on this forum, but after installing through the CMSMS module interface and clicking the link to the forum to configure I get a message telling me to run the PunBB install script because the config.php file is missing.

The CMS module installer should correctly install the PunBB stuff.

I'm not sure what's going wrong. Can you give me some more information on your setup?
Many modules available from the http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org
The CMS Made Simple Developer Cookbook is now available from Packt Publishers!

I'm using CMSMS 0.12.1. Server is Apache, running on Unix (FreeBSD). PHP 4.4.2. PunBB module .7

Does that help? Thanks in advance for any input.

As I have a similar problem I wanted to ask whether a solution has already been found.

I could install PunBB without any problems. But when clicking on the link to get to the forum administration the following error message appears:
An error was encountered
Error: Unable to fetch forum config.

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /usr/export/www/vhosts/funnetwork/hosting/indisguise/cmsmadesimple/modules/PunBB/include/functions.php on line 985
I am using CMS version 0.13
PunBB 0.7
PHP 4.4.2
MySQL 4.0.26

Thanks in advance  :)

I had to upgrade my PunBB to the latest version to get iti to work (currently 1.2.12 but it worked fine with 1.2.10.)
You can get to mine from this page:

http://www.cms.shoesforindustry.net/cmstests/punbbtest/

I was going to do some more integration, e.g. more tightly tie it in with CMS, but to be honest a new verson of PunBB is on the horizon which will have clean url's amongst other things so I'm going to wait for that before making too much effort.

Hope this helps,

Just to clarify: As far as I know the downloadable PunBB module version 0.7 uses the PunBB version 1.2.6

Is an update planned for the module or are there any other hints how to solve the problem without upgrading?

Thanks again  :)

I just upgraded it I think? Actually I'm not sure now.... but I do remeber that you should do the upgrade before adding any PunBB modules.

By upgrade I mean use one of the upgrade methods listed on the PunBB site  (for the forum not the CMS module).

I already solved the problem.  The problem was about the file permission.  The punBB module should be rewriteable.  Sorry to bother you all.  Those who have the same problem, try to change the file permisson first.  Probably it will solve your problem.  Good luck to you all.
