[Solved] Newbie q: how change some words in the language?
Is there a tool to make changes in my local installed languages?
There are a couple of words I'd like to change, how would I do that?

Thanks, that should do it.

PS Is there also some admin panel tool for editing the language xml files for the core (in \modules\ThemeManager\Langs) and for the modules? I think I had one but can not find it now.
This is for a non-english single language site.

I would go for the custom_lang thingy, as that makes sure that it is seperated from the real lang-file. So with updating stuff, you wont loose your changes

Re: [Solved] Newbie q: how change some words in the language
So I create my own strings and swap the name of them in the template?
Re: [Solved] Newbie q: how change some words in the language
I think you lost me... I thought you wanted to have other words showing for existing labels. That can be done with the thing I described. The label-string is existing then and is called in the language-file. It shows what its find then, first looking in module_custom, or in the default area.
So without the copy/paste of the labels that you want changed, and then modify in the module_custom, there is nothing needed.
So I dont understand what you mean, with replacement in the template.

OK, now I think I get it;
If i add a word in my custom language file, it will have precedence over the word in the original language file, so I do not need to use another label name. Yes?

Janaf,
correct.. It will check there first. The nice thing with this method is, that it is upgrade-proof, as you didnt modify a module-file, so it wont overwrite your change on an upgrade.

Re: [Solved] Newbie q: how change some words in the language
I think You should create a new translation project for your language and make it official, so that other people can help you - just like you could help them.
Re: [Solved] Newbie q: how change some words in the language
It is a well kept language module and I only changed one or two word, so I do not think there is any advantage in publishing it.
However, I have been thinking of making a module for the admin panel, for editing and adding changes to a language file. If it is within my capability......

Well, if you think that your changes enhance understandability and usability, than you should definitely give recommendations to the translation team. Or even better, join them!
