Old news date function in our installed CMS Made Simple

Hi,

Version: Have CMS Made Simple CMS Made Simple 1.2.3 "Black Rock".
Problem: The version's news function cannot publish news due to the fact the date function for publishing and archiving is restricted to December 2010.

Solution:
Can this be solved? If so, is it easily fixed or will we have to upgrade the entire CMS Made Simple version?

From Security reasons, bugfixes and user experience you would be advised to upgrade.

As uniqu3 pointed out.... Upgrading is adviced.....

The line that is affected btw is in /modules/News/templates/edit_article.tpl. There is twice 2010 set (for start_year and for end_year), changing that to 2015 f.e. will make it appear in the dropdown already.
