Admin Theme ~ Expression v1.0.2

Post by myshko »

[update] Expression Version 1.0.2 is now available

You download directly from http://bit.ly/exp-theme (expression-admin.tar.gz, 501kb)

Or you can download it from the cmsms themes site.

Please report any bugs and suggestions at the end of this thread.

[/update]

Hi All,

I've updated my admin theme and just wanted to share in case people find it useful.

Expression Admin Theme

For now, you can grab the theme here: http://bit.ly/exp-theme (expression-admin.tar.gz, 499kb)

A modern theme (built in cmsms 1.9.4.2) so some stuff may not work in very old versions of cmsms.

It's nothing fancy or special, just clean and usable. The output is smarty templated, so if you want to change things it's a little easier.

I've tried it in IE6 to IE9, Firefox 3.6 / 4, Opera 11.11, Chrome 11 and Safari 5 without too much hassle. IE6 is a bit creaky, but when isn't it?

There are likely still some bugs here and there.

If it works and people find it useful, I'll tidy it up and put it into the themes area.

Any bugs or suggestions, just let me know.

Thanks!

Mikey

This is in my opinion the biggest goal we are waiting for a long time ... maybe this could be the base for CMSMS 1.10 (hello devs ;)).

That's great, thanks Winkelman.

Yeah, the smarty thing just makes it that little bit easier to set your markup.

If you want to change anything, all the templates are in /templates/ (oddly enough) and a quick look at expressionTheme.php gets you started.

Thanks again.

Hi andre,

Thanks for the comments and for putting the theme in the right place!

To change the login screen you need to set the expression theme as default under 'Site Admin > Global Settings > Default Administration Theme'

All users will now see the expression login screen, but can override their own default theme in their User Preferences.

I'll try and bundle the source files for the login and CMS logos so you can edit them in photoshop or whatever.

Thanks again,

M

Very smart, myshko, great job.

Hey, to me the left hand nav looks a lot like the admin theme of *whispers* wordpress.

Hi Paul,

Thanks and *whispers* it's all there in the theme name sir ;)

A little familiarity can go a long way and save everyone time when learning a new UI.

Kind Regards,

Expression Admin Theme.....

Mikey
Thank you for this theme... this is actually the first time that I am doing this, so I want to do it correct... how do I upgrade an admin theme? I don't want to mess this up...
I see that under Layout/Theme Manager I can import one, but not sure if this is for the admin or website themes??

Thanks again for your help.

Hi

it is not so difficult .
  • unzip the tar.gz to your local disk with a unzip-program
  • upload the directory expression with a ftp-program (such as filezilla) to admin->themes
  • Select your theme by My Preferences
  • And select by global settings also your theme (Default Administration Theme)
thats it. Thats all.

Hi, at first thanks for great theme. It's first really usable admin theme for cmsms :)

Although, I found some bugs conected with default cmsms tinymce wysiwyg. With pages, everything works fine, but with other modules like News or HTML Block, I have some problems. In News module, Tinymce just looks silly (screenshot atached), but in HTML Blocks, It don't work at all and I get php error messages (screenshot). I'm using newest version of cmsms in czech language.

Here is version log from cmsms:

i had something familar with the php errors when i remove cgextensions. and when i install cgextensions again the php errors where gone. so maybe it lays on cgextensions.

but i'v other problem with mc factory. On a small screen 19" 4:3 i can't reach all the fields on right side in mc factory. Maybe its more a problem from mc factory because in the rest off the modules i can reach all the fields. But it would be nice if this was fixed.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback and bugs, very much appreciated as I can't check every module.

I'll take a look at these over the weekend with the affected modules to confirm the issues and I'll post an updated version with fixes.

Again, much appreciated.

If anyone has any tweaks they'd like for specific modules, please let me know before then.

Regards,

Myshko
