[SOLVED] JQueryTools changes background png

Post by Mantlet »

Hi All,

I am building a website where I have to use a semitransparent PNG as background image. All goes well on most pages. But on the page with the GoogleMaps, the PNG is shown way more transparent than on the other pages. This only happens in IE8, not FF or Chrome.

I've found out that it takes a while to load the JQueryTools. As soon as that's done, the extra transparancy gets loaded. I can't build that page without the JQueryTools. I can't build the website with one page with a different transparency. Can anyone tell me what I need to disable in JQueryTools to keep CGGoogleMaps running, but without the transparency modifier in IE8?

See the difference here:

Uhm... I don't see any difference in IE8 ?

But did you create the png with Adobe Photoshop by chance? I know of an issue that some version of photoshop create png images with different color/transparancy shown in IE / FF

Hi Jos,

I changed the top image from one random image to the image rotator. That also seems to cause the fading behaviour. Instead of a photoshop PNG, I created it in Illustrator. But that also doesn't help.

I've uploaded two images, so you can see the difference:

http://cafedoordagt.nl/transparency2.jpg

The weird thing is that it doesn't alter the other background images, only this half transparent one.

What behavior in Javascript causes this?

Have found another computer that also runs IE8. That one doesn't have a problem with the background. Weird thing, but I'll try and see what it looks like on some other machines.

So far, so solved...
