Installing or Upgrading to 1.9 - Problems and Solutions
Re: Installing or Upgrading to 1.9 - Problems and Solutions
Hi,
Just Upgraded from 1.9.2 to 1.9.3 uploaded the full diff version via filezilla. There was no install folder or UPGRADE.TXT in the docs folder so just left it as it was as yesterday everything worked perfect with the upgrade.
Today the site is still good but the admin pages have gone. I get a 404 page. Any ideas?
Do i need to get an install folder to update my databases?
Thanks
Joe

Re: Installing or Upgrading to 1.9 - Problems and Solutions
On upgrading from 1.5.x you lose the right "Modify page structure", which makes great problems when you have a number of editors who are restricted to their own pages . Neither "Modify any page" nor "Manage all Content" do the trick, since they both give the right to modify *everything*.
This means that everytime a user adds a page, the admin has to log in and move the page to the desired place in the page hierarchy.
AFAIK there is no known workaround. So if you need this feature, don't update until the bug is fixed. Or prepare for furious editors/admins.
Cheers,
Alex

Re: Installing or Upgrading to 1.9 - Problems and Solutions
Three issues when upgrading:
a) from an older version: you may need to add the field "news_url" manually to the "prefix_module_news" column. Properties are the same as "news_extra". Otherwise, the news module won't work anymore (can't add new articles).
b) when upgrading a german version, you have to manually upload a correct german language file for TinyMCE. The german language file is broken since 1.9., which means that you cannot completely configure tinymce.
c) since 1.6.x, the "simple_navigation.tpl" is broken. Go to menu manager, add a new template "navigation" and use the code of 1.6. Change your templates accordingly.
Cheers,
Alex

One minor niggle: Why is the "postlet" directory still in the package, when you have to delete it after the installation?

I upgraded from 1.9.2 to 1.9.4.1 - everything went well. And every page looks fine except one page. It just displays between the body-tag, but does not display the html header. Any ideas?
This is the bad page:

Upgrading from 1.54 to 1.9.4.1. I am not able to see Step 1 of install/upgrade.php or install/index.php. I get the following errors.
(Notes: I was able to do a checksum and all files were uploaded; no errors. I am running latest PHP and MySQL databases. I have upgraded CG Extensions module and am able to access the admin panel still. Just not able to upgrade or complete reinstall process)
This is the error on the install/upgrade.php page:

That sounds like you are missing files, make sure everything made it up to the server again, and that all were overwritten...

[solved] "problem loading cache"
Last week I upgraded from 1.9.2 to 1.9.4.2 and I now get a "problem loading cache" error on my front page (well all my pages actually) this also includes anywhere displaying pages, like in admin -> content -> pages
I imagine that it has something to do with the cache... (obviously) but I have no clue what is wrong or how to fix it. Any ideas?
FYI: I upgraded another site from and to the same versions at the same time. The other site looks just fine (after having 'edited' the template without changing anything).
Any help is greatly appreciated!
~Alice
Edit: Just checked my numbers, was from version 1.9.2 to 1.9.4.2 I upgraded, not 1.8.2 to 1.9.2.4
Update: Problem solved! In 'Server Cache Settings' I set the remove files for '1 day' saved and cleared the cache (and apparantly, this time it worked!)

Re: Installing or Upgrading to 1.9 - Problems and Solutions
I've setup a new site, and when I create new pages, they don't actually show up in the backend page list, or on the front end in the menu until I clear the server cache. What causes this?
I've got cache and cache/tmp set to 777, as a page instructed me to do so.
I've had this problem on another site which I installed a while ago... can't remember the specifics.
I've searched directly here on the forums, and google, and didn't find anything really helpful or relevant.
host is iPower (not my choice/control).
any ideas or help would be appreciated.

[SOLVED]1.9.4.2 Fatal error: Class 'PageInfoOperations' not
Solution:
My index.php was the one from 1.8.2
(and by some mistake i somehow had overwritten index.php with the old one in my unpacked 1.9.4.2 directory)
----
I have updated my site from 1.8.2 to 1.9.4.2 and get this message when starting the page.
Fatal error: Class 'PageInfoOperations' not found in /customers/b/6/6/ok73.dk/httpd.www/test/index.php on line 117
I have even restored it all from a backup(both files and DB) and tried again - i still get the same error.
The admin pages works.

Re: Installing or Upgrading to 1.9 - Problems and Solutions
I have been running 1.9.4.2 for a month now, all of the sudden I get problems loading cache and can't see the site admin - global settings, so I can't even turn off cache, or clear the cache.
If the pages do load its only the content with none of the <head> code inserted.
I can't post the system info as I can't see that now.
EDIT: Turns out my web host re-checked the disk quota on accounts and reset to default, I was maxed out on disk space, so it couldn't create anymore cache data.
Always the best when they don't tell you.
