CustomContent: Protection of files possible?

Is there a smart way of using CustomContent and FrontEndUsers for protection of downloadable files? I need to protect certain downloads that should only be accessible for certain users and the only other way I can think of is to use .htaccess in combination with .htpasswd but then I wouldn't need CustomContent and FrontEndUsers ...

Maybe someone else has already had the same problem or has a good idea for solving this one.

The Uploads module is designed for this, you can put your protected files into one or more categories of the uploads module, then wrap the uploads module tag with customcontent stuff and then only logged in users will be able to download the file.

thank you for your reply. I didn't even know about these capabilities, though I searched the forge for something like this. Maybe you should update the feature-list or have a documentation for this module (and for the others as well). But since you are around here pretty often I would just like to say thank you.

Uploads v1.1.9 does not work with my 0.12 Fiji install. I just see the admin-panel (all rights have been assigned properly) with 7 tabs but I can not click on a single one to edit for example the preferences. Furthermore I wondered what mode="somemode" would do and what all the other things are about (templates, detail-template, etc.)

Looks pretty interesting but it seems to be unstable at the moment.
