Should we force registration?

Post by Ted »

The spam is getting out of control.  I've been trying to put off as long as possible not forcing registration  to ask a question in the forum, but it's getting ridiculous.

What do you guys think?

sorry for replying, not sure Ted you want this, but i think there is no poll needed, just force user registration. spam sucks. all precautions should be taken to avoid it.

you and your team and all the community have done a great job, so why waste your time on spending time to delete spam?

if a user really needs an answer to his question, he or she will definitely register.

good luck.

I agree with the above. I know what a pain in the arse spam is, so I say go for it.

You should set the rights of the poll options, every user can change it.

definately enforce registration.  If someone wants assistance or provide input the minimum amount of commitment is a good idea.

Indeed, I think registration makes the forum more open, in the sense that noone can post anonymously and in that way "hide behind an IP address". And of course most importantly, spam becomes much more difficult.

Ok, I was expecting much more of an argument against registrations.  That's good to know.  I'll set the permissions now to lock out guests from posting.  Thanks!

I didn't even know or think one could post without registering....  ;)

I think it made me more responsible - I mean, trying for first look in past posts before asking same question over... and now I'm proud to give some answers (sometimes !)
