I'm curious.  You say you are "no coder", but the homepage of sNews says,
sNews is suitable for developers with beginner-to-advanced PHP skills and a good working knowledge of how to work with, set up and manage MySQL databases. sNews is not geared towards the end-user who knows little or nothing about building and developing PHP-MySQL websites.
Do you find that sNews actually does not require coding skills?

Hi Patric,

Welcome here ...
If I port a theme and have images, css and an index with content... Is it really sufficient to export it as XML ???
Yeah, ThemeManager will do it for you - all templates, images, js and css and menu manager templates will be encode inside the xml file.
And could someone please check if I did ok trying to upload them,
Theme team should check it ...
But as I am quite stupid, heh, and sometimes don't get what I read, I am in need of assistance...
Feel free to ask :) ...
Can I keep uploading XML files (and are they working) or should I go zippety ziip the themes ?
Like you want but zipping creates smaller files ...

Hi, jmcgin51... I, myself, have no coding skills whatsoever when it comes to PHP (meaning actually building something with my own ten fingers). I do some XHTML/CSS design jobs. I use sNews, mainly from being apart of it since 2005, so a few things have caught on, i guess. But I can't code one bit. Therefor I feel I can say what I did. Though, not saying a complete newbie would benefit a lot from using it, no... There you have a point. All true's are with some modification, no ? So is this. A simple install, needs no coding skills according to me. That's correct. However, sNews is a very lightweight system with bare necessities from scratch, so if you need/want more "blingbling" and/or performance changes, well, yes you do need some coding skills, in PHP.

You satisfied with how system behaves, but need to change the looks of it, yes you need competense in XHTML/CSS.

@Cyberman - Many thanks for a warm welcome.

So, ultimate is zipping XML files ;)

@Patric

If you want to contribute themes just export them from theme manager and upload the .XML file to the themes site, no need for zipping them, it's just an extra step...

As long as anything it needs is called in the template or style sheets it will get exported with it, just no GCB...

If anyone wants to turn my PNG visuals into CMS Made Simple theme I have loads, love to see them get used. Also been working on some new Admin designs if anyone is interested.

Keep up the good work.  :)

Cheers,
