Second Domain Name on one site

Post by ConfusedTim »

Hi

Sorry if this is strange but here goes -- is it possible to have a web site with two different domain names? I am starting a business wich will sell products to two different audiences and want to brand my company as one thing for audience a and anotehr thing for audience b.  e.g WWW. targetA.com and www.targetB.com within the same site structure?

Thanks

No multi site admin control in CMS Made Simple and never will be, there have been threads with hacks to do this but any hacked core files render your site unsupported by Devs...

I'll be wrong here but...

Couldn't you achieve this by having two domains, two hosting accounts and two CMSMS installations but have them both access the same CMSMS database?

In My2Cents, if you want to just split the two in the middle meaning that you wish to have no dynamic links between the two, you could share that DB.

Now if you start adding the ideas that I suggested before... that code works to "permanently" hook parts to one domain.  This way you’re getting two domains that can be woven together.  Also in those threads you'll find how to incorporate subdomains.... All this extra work is to avoid content doubling... Content doubling on the net is no good for SEO. Hope this helps...
