floating horizontal menu causes extra whitespace on IE

Hi, on this test site http://conamara.org/test am running
on Apache
CMSMS version 1.5.4
PHP Version 5.2.6
MySQL client version: 5.0.41

The site uses the default horiz menu templates and styleshets, modified.
The problem is, since I have floated the horizontal menu, extra horizontal white space is shown below the menu in IE7.
In Firefox 3.09 there is no problem.

If I remove the float tag from the horizontal menu stylesheet, then the extra space disappears.

Most likely it is picking up some kind of css for that is pushing it around, look to the top of the board, I'm moving this to the HTML/CSS board, to find ways to target just ie7...
