[solved] CGCalendar - category filters disappear when scrolling from month to mo

Post by clc »

Hi, I'm wondering if I'm losing my mind -- since I upgraded to the new CGCalendar I can't get category filtering to work in the month layout -- it works fine in the upcominglist templates, just not in the month grid view.  Here's what I've got for my content:

{cms_module module="CGCalendar" category="West"}

Am I messing up the syntax somehow?  I've tried various permutations (including single quotes) but can't get anything to work -- it just keeps displaying events for all the categories.  This same syntax was working fine for me in Calendar 1.0 so I'm wondering if something has changed, or if I'm just missing something really obvious.

I'm on CMSMS 1.5.3, CGCalendar 1.0, CGExtensions 1.15.1.  Any help would be much appreciated...

Thanks!

Just an update -- I noticed that there was a newer version of CGCalendar available, so I upgraded to version 1.1, but the issue remains...

Thanks!

Hmm...has this happened to *anyone* else?  I can't for the life of me figure out why it works fine in Calendar 1.0, but not CGCalendar 1.1 -- I've compared the templates and there's nothing there that seems like it would cause this.  I'm trying to decide if I'm missing something obvious, or if I should submit this as a bug.  Or if I should roll back to Calendar 1.0 since I need to launch the site with category filtering this week...

Well, I rolled back to Calendar 1.0 and the categories work now.  However, I'm not marking this "solved" because I'm still hoping someone will have a solution that allows me to use the newer module...

Thanks!

Uninstalled and reinstalled CGCalendar 1.1 and the categories are working now...

Oh crikey, it's *almost* working -- it works on the initial page load, but when I scroll from month to month the filters disappear again.  Again, it doesn't do it in Calendar 1.0.

I'm wondering if it might be connected to the fact that Calendar 1.0 somehow caches the month last viewed (if one has been manually scrolling through the months), whereas CGCalendar 1.1 always reverts back to the current month when refreshing the original link.  Not sure where to find this in the code though...

Thanks again,
Karena

CGCalendar - category filters disappear when scrolling from month to month

Post by clc »

Hi all, I'm starting to feel like I'm talking to myself.  :)  Has *anyone* experienced the second issue, where the filters disappear while scrolling?  I just installed it on a completely different hosting account, and that issue remains, so I have a hard time thinking it's just me.

Can I also ask...what version are most of you using out there?  I need to launch a site this month and I want to use the module that will continue to be supported (i.e. CGCalendar), but I have to sort this issue out before presenting it to a client. Does it make more sense to roll back?

In general I love this module - it's very clean and functional and generally does everything I need it to do.  I'd have a go at fixing this issue myself but my knowledge here is limited.  Can anyone point me in a starting direction?

Thanks!

Thanks to the kind folks in this thread (fortuitously posted today), this issue is resolved:

http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 035.0.html

I just needed to add "inline="1"" to my tag, as follows:

{cms_module module='CGCalendar' category='Parents and Families' inline="1" calendartemplate='MonthColorCatHover'}

Thanks!

Hi Karena,

Sorry I only saw this post today or I would have replied. I have been busy working on some security problems with the FEU module.

I too am having the exact same problem with the Calendar module as well, so am glad it has been solved.

Thanks loads for posting this.
