Add users with Front End Users

Post by bthart »

Hello All,

I have installed CMS made simple and have a website up and running however I have decided that I would like to password protect it. There most likely more ease of use and functionality using Front End Users Module rather than .htaccess.

I have read a number of forums relating to this module however they seem to focus more on how to implement the module rather than step by step adding users. It is most likly something very simple - I just cant find the button to add a user.
I have tried adding users normally and then adding them to the front end users group but this does not work.

I have installed Custom Content but there is no setting for this module as far as I can see.

I am using the latest version of Front end Users and version 1.5.1 of CMS MADE SIMPLE. More details can be given if needed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi

To add users, first off all read the "module help" on the page "Frontend User Management".

The steps are:

Add some user properties on the first tab if you want more than username and password (e-mail address, phone etc)
Add a Group on the "Groups" tab where you can add the extra properties you defined in the first step.
Add a User (at the bottom on the "Users" tab page)

Thanks for the prompt reply,

I am not needing any properties right now only user name and password which I expect is default.

When I go to groups tab the only option is 'import groups' and above this it says 'no groups found'.

Thanks

You don't see the "Add Group" icon?

If not, add a property anyway (e-mail address) and see if "Add Group" becomes available..
Then add a group and mark the e-mail address property "off" if you don't want to use it.

You need to read the FrontEndUsers help.  You will also need CustomContent, if you haven't installed it yet, and you may want SelfRegistration, depending on your application.
