Hi all,
Hope somebody responds to my basic question.
I am running phpbb 2018 forum on my site. and would like to add some portal capabilities to it. Like, at the bottom of the forum, i need to have a set of dynamic hyperlinks, RSS feeds, some news and basically some dynamic content. This should show up in all pages of the forum.
I am wondering is that possible by using CMS MS? Like, say create such dynamic pages in CMS MS - content.php and then just insert the link on the footer of forum (footer.tpl)? will that pull up all the related informaiton in the content.php on all pages?
Please kindly help. I am a novice in programming, learning by examples, reading and suggestions from others.
Thanks,
drb
CMS MS and phpbb
Re: CMS MS and phpbb
all is possibe, you can make everything, but easiest way is in stall CMSMS in separated directory and in bottom of your forum make links to CMSMS. Also you can make template in CMSMS only with menu, and manually put this menu in bottom of your phpbb template. Also, you can generate menu in bootom of your template onthefly, but 2 aplikations in one page will make this slowest

Re: CMS MS and phpbb
Yes, this forum is Simplemachines. However, the forum is a standalone using the header and the footer from the CMSMS site in the forum theme. Currently there is no full integration available for a forum solution with CMSMS.
Well, there is a module for punBB, but I think it is only a wrapper. That is, CMSMS admin users have to register separately for the forum.
But it's quite easy to achieve an "integrated look" with the forum theme this way and it works just as fine as a full integration, only that the menu needs to be hardcoded.

Re: CMS MS and phpbb
Sorry to drag on this on further.
For a variety of reasons, looks like I cannot make the switch to simplemachines forum. However, really love to use CMS-MS. Is there a way somebody could point me to a tutorial or guide me how to integrate phpbb forum onto CMS?
Please bear with me. I am a novice in this.
thanks,
drb
