News module shows future articles
News module shows future articles
Hello,
Does anyone of you have the same bug than me ?
I have prepared some news articles for my website and I see 2 mistakes
1) When the article is marked "active" but with a publication date in the future, the article is still shown in News module RSS feed
2) When the article is marked "inactive", it still appears in search results.
Strange, isn't it ?

Re: Search module and RSS feed show hidden articles
Well, forget point 2 : a complete reindexing of content made it disappear.
Nevertheless, point 1 is still here : when an article is "active", with a publication date in the future, it appears in news module RSS feed, which is quite embarrassing.

What version you on dam. I had to add some extra code to the search module to stop it searching Albums (which I had hidden for a particular client with FEU). But I guess this more to do with future News and wether active or not or at least triggering active for stuff that is current or past?

Well, I was in 2.8.2.Russ wrote: What version you on dam. I had to add some extra code to the search module to stop it searching Albums (which I had hidden for a particular client with FEU). I just upgraded in 2.8.3, but another matter appears : my article which is supposed to be posted on september 17 (in 2 days) appears. I would like articles to be posted on the date I want, even if I'm not there to post them. Is it possible ?
Re: Search module and RSS feed show hidden articles
So this is now a news Module issue? If so perhaps you'd better repost under that?

Re: News module shows future articles
No problems dam, just you might get a better response if it a problem with a core module
Re: News module shows future articles
Is the "Start Date:" in the future? or the "Post Date:"? or both?

Re: News module shows future articles
It's the "post date": I don't use expiration date, because I don't want my articles to expire : I just need to publish them in 2 or 3 weeks automatically.Nullig wrote: Is the "Start Date:" in the future? or the "Post Date:"? or both?
Nullig
I naively thought that "post date" was supposed to do that, but if it doesn't, I think that "post date" and "start date" are redundant, aren't they ?
Re: News module shows future articles
Postdate and startdate arent redundant.....
Postdate is the date that is showing as the date the entry was created...
Without expiration set, every "active" entry will show...
With expiration set, only entries that are inside the start/end date frame are shown..
In your case, with a scheduled showing of the entries, you should use expiration, you could however set the expiration date to be far from today....

Re: News module shows future articles
This should be documented in the News module Help.

If I understand well, Postdate is just the date that is shown to readers. Nothing to do with the actual date of publication, isn't it ?
Well, I will try to use startdate, even if I really don't like to use an enddate, even far in the future.
Re: News module shows future articles
Dam,
correct, the postdate is just the date that is showing in the entry as the date-of-the-entry...
So only with 'use expiration' set, will the other 2 dates become relevant...
