[fixed]ContentManager lock when modified user preference

New install Rev 9975

Admin user, add new content, submit ;
Go to your settings and change the language (fr->en).
You are not able to edit the last created content (this page is currently being edited by an other user), locked by Admin for 60 minutes.
This happen only the first time you change the settings.
Go to Settings - Content Manager and set Locking Expiration Time-out (minutes): 0, submit.
The content still locked for 60 minutes...

I Confirme the lock, it seems that is a random lock

Same for me. If I remember correctly, I had 2 tabs opened on my browser, and I edited a page and closed it. In the other tab, the page was locked. I changed parameters in the "content manager parameters" to desactivate the locking system, and several days later, the page is still locked.

I confirme. Locking is automatic with default value. The first thing I do after a new install is specifying a value of 0 to disable locking, otherwise design manager and content manager are unuseable.

a: When you 'submit' a content page (or cancel) an edit. The page should be automatically unlocked. I have tested this many, many times.
b: The content list page does not automatically refresh via ajax. So if it lists a page as 'locked' you will have to reload to see if it became unlocked. This can be confusing if using multiple browser pages. But it is correct.
c: Changing the lock expiry to 0 or 30 or 120 only effects new edit sessions, it does not effect any existing locks.
d: Pages do not automatically become unlocked if you close the browser tab or close the browser when in edit content, or some error occurs. You will have to wait for the lock to timeout and then you can 'steal it'.
You can see by hovering over the page title of a locked page, approximately how many minutes until the lock expires. (refresh the content list page to update this). After the lock has expired (you may have to refresh again). There will be an icon allowing you to steal the lock.

I just created a new install from the latest snapshot. Installed French, English, and Dutch languages.

Using a single browser tab I
- changed my language to French in 'My Preferences'
- Created a new test page... added some silly content, hit submit
(the page was not locked after submit)
- Changed my language to English
- Viewed the content list.... no content was locked.
- Edited the new page created above. hit submit
(the page was not locked after submit).

So it all works correctly here. Again, the behavior can be a bit confusing if you are using multiple browsers or browser tabs AND you do not reload the content list.

I also create a new install from the latest snapshot. I edit 5 templates without locking. Automatic locking begin and all existing template are locked after edit and summit. There is no automatic locking in content manager.

I still have the problem with design manager on rev10057: 2 stylesheets edited 2 weeks ago are still locked. I can open them though, but I don't understand why a message says it's already currently edited by someone else, as it's not the case.

No more locking problem on content manager either for me.

I have just spent another hour trying to replicate an issue wrt locking in the design manager... and I cannot reproduce any issue.

1- templates are automaticly looked with default value parameters :

2 - I turn values to :
Lock Time out (minutes): 0
Lock Refresh Interval (seconds): 0
---> no locking
3 - return to default value
Lock Time out (minutes): 60
Lock Refresh Interval (seconds): 120
---> no locking
Could you try using default values? :

EDIT : Automatic locking come back with default values

Solved for me.
But if you edit a template, click on apply and after exit by a click on design manager in the left column, you lock the template. it's logical: the template is being edited by you. What is the interest of a autolocking here?
