Exported stylesheets

A Basic question, but when I export the stylesheets from CMSMS, they appear in the assets/css directory. The message in the Design Manager then indicates that I can edit them in my css editor - I use Brackets.

However, I am getting a weird problem. I edit the stylesheet save etc. The file in the directory assets/css reflects the changes. But the chnages are not shown in the webpage. When I look at the source of he page and click on the stylesheet link it opens up the old version of the css, although the path is showing correctly, to the assets/css folder.

I've tried all sorts to get it to work cleared cache, manually added the links to css etc but no joy. Only works when I reimport the stylesheet and make the amends in the CMS.

Anyone else had this problem? Or it might be me making an obvious mistake.

I'm running CMSMS 2.2.6, on MAMP with PHP 7.2.1
