There are some modules (like LISE) that allow you to surface the module instance into an admin section. Currently, there's only the following admin sections:
Main, Content, Layout, User Management, Extensions, Site Admin, Preferences
Is it possible to create a new section that would be tied to the editor permission without heavy customization? Such as "Galleries"?

There is yet another admin section called "E-Commerce".
It is not possible to add your own admin sections, but it might be possible to rename existing ones by customizing the admin theme https://docs.cmsmadesimple.org/customiz ... dmin-theme
I would strongly not recommend that though.
