Hi,
We have been recommended to a potential new client to build a website for their society.
Most of the functionality is covered by CMSMS but they also need something like company directory for listing outlets with postcode search etc, plus a module to accept simple payments from members for conferences etc.
Can anyone advise on the following please?
- is Calguy's Company Directory still supported/compatible please?
- any guidance on a simple ecommerce module please?
We are trying to avoid the dreaded WordPress if we can do it all with CMSMS.
Thanks
V

We use CompanyDirectory on the main CMSMS site, and I use it on multiple sites as well, so it should be supported for the foreseeable future.
The only real eCommerce suite is CG's, and it is actively supported as well. It's not out of the box simple, but it's not particularly complex either as long as you want to use one of the existing payment gateways. For super-simple, I'd consider using a third-party payment site and just embed the widgets/code into CMSMS.

Thanks for the reply.
Good news about the Company Directory although it looks a bit stale in the modules section? April 2017 showing as the last update? Is this the right one please?

Ecommerce - we'll take a look at CG's. However we also thought the "plugin" route may be the way to go as long as the client is OK with 2 admin areas - suspect that may not be the case though as they're looking for full integration with a members area etc. Please not WordPress
Thanks for now,
V

My ECommerce system works for what it is intended (simple products).
It doesn't work that well with services, and there is no tie in to an events system to book seats in 'events' such as conferences, or shows.
So if you want an integrated control panel, then you are probably looking at custom development if you choose CMSMS.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. We are discussing the specification with the client. At the moment it is a huge "wish list" and they need to understand the implications of implementing functionality which will rarely be used.
Hopefully we can rationalise to something sensible.
