sortby='f:fieldname' Not Working

Hello,

I'm using the Products module and trying to sort products on the summary page by a field name I created "productNumber" but the sortby does not work with any custom field name, the sortby does work for "id" or "weight" but I can't get it to work for any custom field I've created. I tried different varieties of the file name, case sensitive, etc. My code is below:

{Products category='Bread' summarytemplate='CustomProductsSampleListView' sortby='f:productnumber'}
