Problem with page alias

hello,
I'm using CMSMS v.2.2.4.
I noticed a problem with page aliases that did not occur in earlier versions - special characters are not deleted.

If I create a page named "gęś" alias will be also "gęś" instead "ges" and as a result, the url of this page will be http://domainname.com/g%C4%99%C5%9B

Is there any possibility of correction using e.g. "preg_replace"?
