Today I released v1.0(.0) of CGWebPush a new module that provides some ability to send notification mechanisms to your users' browser even if they are not logged in to your application.
CGWebPush uses a technology called WebPush which works in Chrome and Firefox on the Desktop and on Android. And apparently in Safari on desktop. It does not work on Ios.
Your FEU users can now subscribe and unsubscribe to push notifications from any compatible browser (see the module's help).
The admin panel, and a cmscli command allow you to send push notifications to FEU users that have subscribed, based on their FEU group.
This module will be great for things like informing users of new news articles, blog posts, calendar events, etc.
In future versions automation based on CMSMS hooks will be possible and sending push notifications to users based on more criteria than just an FEU group.
Check it out at: http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/cgwebpush
This module registers a service worker, and takes a bit of configuration but it can be a great tool for customer engagement.
