I have a series of articles loaded into News, under a subcategory (Category 1 > Subcategory 2). They have a Post and Start date in the future (a few days from now). When I use the browescat feature (browsecat='1'), this future category shows up with an article count, but returns a null result when clicked.
Is there a way to hide these as-yet-to-be-posted articles, and their entire category, from the browsecat function? I found an old post referring to this, but it looks like the module has undergone significant changes since then:

I'm using CMSMS 1.11.9 and News 2.14.1 (a few custom modules have kept me from upgrading to 1.11.13 yet).
Hide future articles from News browsecat?
Re: Hide future articles from News browsecat?
You probably need to use some Smarty magic. If number of articles equals 0 don't show category or something...

Re: Hide future articles from News browsecat?
Having a quick look in the news module that comes with 1.11.13 I don't see the use of the start date in the sql query.
As we are in Geekmoot right now I could ask about it directly to the developer (used IRC though ).
Thinks it is a bug so I filed a bug report:

Re: Hide future articles from News browsecat?
Bug is fixed in SVN so with next release of News module it would behave as expected
