Front End Users wont upgrade

I am receiving the following when I try to upgrade my FrontEnd Users module
string(1899523) "

I have searched but found nothing dealing with those characters.  if someone could point me in the right direction I would be glad to read anything to solve this problem.

my other modules all upgraded successfully so I don't think it has to do with the CMSMS upgrade itself.

might also note that the old module still seems to work on the web pages so while I don't have issue exactly, i would like to avoid problems in the future.

Downloading the modules from the forge and uploading them to the website did the trick as well.
