Blogs Made Simple - Pretty URLs not working

Hi all,

I have installed Blogs Made Simple v. 0.3.3.1 on CMSMS v1.4.1 for a client site but the blog section will not work at all with pretty urls turned on, the pagechooser function does not work and I can't even click onto any of the articles or categories, it just keeps refreshing the blog landing page. The blog will work perfectly if I set use_hierarchy to false in the .htaccess file to turn off pretty urls.

I have followed the steps listed here http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/bug/view/2780 for fixing this bug and also and viewed the following threads:

but none of these options work.

Can anyone please help?

Update: turning off use_hierarchy seems to allow the blog to now work but it still will not use pretty urls.
