Looking for Smarty Tag tutorials and examples

First I want to say that I was very impressed with CMSMS when I first started working with it yesterday. I am happy used Prestashop and ImpressCMS because there is no learning curve. Its straight forward and simple unlike Drupal, Joomla and even Wordpress.

I was able to migrate a business plan into a website in less than two hours working with html and css which is my skillset for the last 15yrs. Impressive!

Then I tried to use the modules. And then it wasn't simple anymore. Lol. I'm not a PHP coder and not familiar with Smarty Tags. I tried using an event module and found some sample code to import into an event page I created but I can't even get an event to show up. (Frustrated!!!)

I've googled and watched every cmsms video there is on youtube. Cmshelp4u.com was the most helpful. But still no step by step instruction or sample code on how to use the smarty tags.

I want to try to make this work because there is a CMTicketsales module that I want to use on this platform that auto plugs into the event & product modules. (Also, Impressive!) So can anyone direct me to a place that I can read up on Smarty Tags (with examples). I assimilate information @ genius level easiness if I can just see how it works (action and effect).

The very basics of Smarty can be found here: http://www.smarty.net/docs/en/.
It's a good starting point. Also keep in mind that there is a fair amount of information about CMSMS on a default installation sample content.
