Search Feature cant find and index PDFs

Hi all,
Question,
How can I get the search feature to find and also index PDFs on the site?
Is there a way for me to get this done, or another search module I can use?

Some days ago a user talk about he has sphider implemented for CMSms cause sphider can index pdf.
But there's currently no module available.

I use this for a site as an external program.
A module porting is very difficult (admin side) because the code is bad (html and php together and many many global variables).
I have a working version as a module but I had a lot hacks files and omitting certain features like categories, ...
If I can clean up the code a bit put in the forge with the binary versions for linux/windows of pdftotext, catdoc, xls2csv and catppt
In sphider forum someone working on oop mod (with pear-mdb2 and smarty), if he continues would be ideal (with porting in AdoDB)
